A Haven for Birds

The finca is home to a remarkable diversity of tropical birds that can be observed throughout the year in the heart of the valley.

Some species live here permanently, while others simply pass through during migration periods, making every season unique.

To fully enjoy this natural spectacle, we have created a birdwatching trail immersed in nature. The best time to observe birds is at dawn, when the valley slowly awakens.

Accompanied by a passionate guide and equipped with binoculars, you can set out to discover parrots, hummingbirds, and the many species that inhabit this preserved refuge.

Here, birds with bright red, deep blue, and vibrant yellow plumage come to rest and feed around the finca, while hummingbirds never cease to amaze us with the grace and speed of their flight.

Personally, I have a particular affection for the Barranquero, easily recognised by its elegant long blue tail.

At sunset, an almost timeless spectacle takes place every evening: thousands of parrots return to the eucalyptus trees at the top of the finca, where they spend the night.

We named this special place Mirador de Romeo, a privileged observation point where you can also enjoy a sunset quite different from the one seen from KMØ.

Among the species we are fortunate to regularly observe are the Red-headed Barbet, Thick-billed Euphonia, Azara’s Spinetail, Long-tailed Grackle, Golden-rumped Euphonia, Golden-green Tanager, and Blue-tailed Emerald.
